Tom Valença
was born in 1963 in the city of Salvador
(BA). He has a Bachelors in Psychology, and he holds a Masters in Social
Sciences from UFBA with the dissertation “To Consume or to be Consumed,
that is the Question! Configurations among drug users in a Culture of
Consumption” (“Consumir ou ser consumido, eis a questão!
'configurações entre usuários de drogas numa cultura
de consumo”). He is the author of the poetic fiction “Universos
Profanos” (Papel Virtual Editora, 2001). He is currently a fellow
of CNPq and doing his doctorate thesis, “To Consume or to be Consumed,
that is the Question! Part II – New Configurations among drug users
in a Culture of Consumption” ("Consumir ou ser consumido, eis
a questão! Parte II - ' novas configurações entre
usuários de drogas numa cultura de consumo”) for the Graduate
Program in Social Sciences at UFBA.
